Most individuals do not realize how important this topic really is. Without the ability to communicate effectively we run the risk of causing conflict. What do I mean by this? People naturally communicate the way they have learned. Therefore it is a learning process to get to know people.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Diversity<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In a world we live in today diversity is everywhere. Does this mean that individuals honor it? Actually they don\u2019t, most people are not equipped to do such a thing. Different people who come from a variety of social economic backgrounds raise their children to see their point of view in life. If you think about all of the races and cultures in America and in the world, messages can be lost in translation as it relates to communicating effectively.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Culture<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Most people have a culture they identify with. However, when I mention culture it is not the same thing as race. Culture is something we adopt throughout time such as food, dance, clothes, language and much more. Is culture family based? Cultures can be formed, shaped and changed. You will also find organizations and schools, who have several locations, but the feeling within the company will differ, the people create the energy within the environment, which ultimately becomes the culture.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Understanding<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Understanding how to communicate with others is very important in life. Lets think about who we communicate with on a daily bases. Most individuals do not take the time to process their encounters, which affect their experiences. Human beings are very smart and capable of understanding other people, however with the distractions of cell phones and social media this becomes more of a challenge. There are many benefits to creating positive relationships; it helps us to enjoy more encounters and experiences.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Benefits<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>As it relates to interpersonal communications the benefits are endless. In the work place we have the opportunity to enhance the culture, while improving the overall moral of the organization. This is important because the focus stays on the mission and the vision of the organization as long as conflict is at a minimal. As it relates schools, students and faculty members often experience conflict. The reason they experience conflict is because of a difference of opinions, which affects ones goals. In education, teachers \/ professors want to teach, while the students want to pass. The issue at hand remains to be if the students don\u2019t understand the information, they often become disinterested. Whose fault is this? Both, it is up to teachers \/ professors and students to communicate clearly as it relates to academic expectations. If the lines of communication are clear everyone benefits from this.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In conclusion, interpersonal communications is important in all walks of life. As I stated before it can make or break relationships. As an affective communicator we should honor diversity and cultural differences. In a world we live in today we must be willing to understand and learn from others. If we take the time out to listen to other perspectives the sky\u2019s the limit. I would give more to be an affective communicator than anything else in the world.
